When the creators of Auvers stood together, brush in hand and pondering what to paint onto their canvas of hospitality space in Darling Square, they were inspired by a town in the north-western suburbs of Paris.
From a little village in France to Sydney
During the 19th century, Auvers-sur-Oise flourished with imagination and artistic pursuit. People like Vincent van Gogh and Paul Cézanne drew from the village’s scenery to paint their canvases. There was a charm and tranquil beauty that inspired impressionistic artworks well into the 20th century.
The spirit of Vincent van Gogh
Next to Darling Square’s iconic lawn (where until recently a massive inflatable Hello Kitty stood), Auvers Dining hums with quiet energy. A host greets incoming customers while team members bustle in and out carrying scrumptious meals. You can sit in relaxed conversation with a backdrop of starry peacefulness while sipping on a coffee. At night time, with a wine in one hand and your partner’s hand in the other, it can feel like a scene straight from Romeo and Juliet.
A cafe with art in its heart
The theme of romance and creative inspiration flows through the entire design of Auvers. Stepping inside, you can see the thoughtfulness in its architecture with triangular archways adorning the interior and smooth wooden finishes inviting a sense of calmness. The atmosphere is warm and comforting, with artwork, plush pillows and enchanting music accompanying your meal.
Try a diverse menu of international flavours
The kitchen at Auvers focuses on seasonal produce, where ingredients from local Australian farmers are prioritised. The menu is balanced with the elegance of dishes like Lobster on Souffle, the indulgence of entrees like Bone Marrow with Shio Garlic Butter, and the delicate softness of desserts like Tea Crème Brûlée. With the same creative energy, the chefs channel flavours from Japanese, Italian and modern Australian cuisine into their cooking.
Whether it’s for your daytime or night-time meal, Auvers brings community, art and innovative food together.
